Steps to Configure the NFC Tag
- Get the Shareable Link of the Spreadsheet:
- Google Drive:
- Open the Google Drive app.
- Find your spreadsheet, tap the three dots (⋮) next to it.
- Select „Share”, then choose „Copy link”. Ensure the link is set to allow access for anyone with the link.
- OneDrive:
- Open the OneDrive app.
- Find your spreadsheet, tap the three dots (⋮) next to it.
- Select „Share”, then choose „Copy link”. Ensure the link allows sharing with others.
- Google Drive:
- Install the NFC Tools App: Download and install NFC Tools (or a similar app) from your mobile app store. Ensure that your phone have NFC and is enabled from settings.
- Open NFC Tools and Go to “Write”: Launch the app and tap on the “Write” option.
- Add a New Record: Tap “Add a record” and choose “URL/Link” as the type of record.
- Paste the Spreadsheet Link:Paste the shareable link you copied earlier into the URL field. Confirm by tapping OK or Add.
- Write the URL to the NFC Tag: Hold your NFC tag close to the back of your phone, then tap “Write” in the app. The app will write the link to the NFC tag in a few seconds, and you’ll see a confirmation message when it’s done.
- Test the NFC Tag: Place your phone near the NFC tag. It should automatically open the shared Excel spreadsheet in your default browser or app (Google Sheets, Excel, etc.).
Optional Enhancements
- Password Protection: If your spreadsheet is confidential, ensure access is password-protected or restricted to specific email addresses.
- Label Your Tag: Add a sticker or label to the NFC tag to indicate what it does (e.g., “Open Sales Report”).
